SOUTHSHORE’S SECOND COMMUNITY CENTER IS NOW OPEN!

The new rec center in this exclusive southeast Aurora community of Southshore will span 9,000 square feet and feature a full slate of recreational and entertainment activities for residents of Southshore. This additional resort-style amenity will also provide a new venue for resident connection and interaction in the rapidly growing community.

Board Chairman

At the official ground breaking in July, Board Chairman Jerry Richmond, Raintree Investment Corporation, acknowledged all responsible for the planning, design and construction of the new center including the city of Aurora, Southshore Metro District board members, Norris Design, Trio Design, Anchor Engineering, KGA Studio Architects, and Martin & Martin Consulting Engineers.

The community center

The new community center will aim to raise the bar in terms of architectural appeal. The original 11,000 square foot amenity center The Lakehouse at Southshore, located at 27151 E. Lakeview Drive was built with a nautical theme emulating famous Southeast U.S. vacation destinations such as Key West and Seaside. The new facility will feature many of the same design elements, with more up-to-the-minute scale and styling.

The building sits on a 10-acre site within walking distance of several other community amenities: a sledding hill, dog park, play areas and shelters overlooking the Aurora Reservoir ideal settings for a variety of seasonal activities.

It also will have a tap room (which will host different, local breweries on a rotating basis), community room, nursery, fitness activity room, yoga studio with an outdoor deck overlooking the pools, plus an open gym. Neighborhood kids will also be able to enjoy a game room and teen center.

Swimming Pool

The first recreational facility features two pools including a resort-style pool with a zero-entry area and splash pad with a perimeter decked with cabanas, plantation-style trellises, a large activities lawn, snack shack, a traditional boardwalk with outdoor firepit, plus unobstructed views of the Aurora Reservoir.

The second recreation facility will have many of the same features, with the addition of a competition pool for regional swim meets, as well as a second play pool and splash pad for young children.

Activities and social events

More fun activities and social events such as Super Bowl parties, chili cookoffs, open-mic nights, holiday parties, movie nights, food trucks and more will be planned and organized by the Southshore community center activities director.

The new community building will be family- and fitness-oriented, with programming for the project developed by the architectural team, the developer and a select group of HOA members.
