Another Day At The Beach!

Life’s a Beach at Southshore!
Ready for a little beach-side stay-cation, full of sand and surf? Or how about a beach party for 30 of your closest friends? Everything’s possible with lakeside living at Southshore!
The Aurora Reservoir is an oasis of soft sand and sparkling water since there are no motorized boats on the lake, it’s the ideal place to swim, sunbathe and build sandcastles.
Bring a toy shovel and a pail for the little ones and show them the secret to a great sand castle: lots of water! (Dry sand just doesn’t stay where you put it!)
And if you’re serious about sand sculpture, here is a step-by-step guide to intermediate and advanced packing and stacking.
When the kids have had their fill of sandcastle building, they can still enjoy the sunshine and fresh air with a beach version of Bingo. You’ll need some pencils and a downloadable card, but all they have to do is spot the items and X them off. Just make sure to pack a prize for the winner!
Calling All Volleyballers!
Get bored just sitting at the water’s edge? You don’t have to be a professional athlete to schedule a friendly game of beach volleyball (although watching their moves is pretty inspiring!).
Two of the four sand volleyball courts can be reserved and it’s a great way to burn calories (484 per hour!) It’s so much fun it doesn’t feel like a workout, and it can improve balance and coordination for all ages.
The sport originated in Hawaii, like surfing and hula dancing (wait, is that a sport?) and amateur teams can have more than two players. After all, you’re probably not training for the world championships!
So practice your serve and your spike and if you’ve packed a picnic lunch for a couple dozen friends, check out the Plaza Gazebo. It’s the shelter closest to the sand volleyball courts and overlooks the swim beach — when you’re ready to cool off!
Summertime’s the best time to take advantage of the resort style amenities at Southshore. And if you don’t live here yet, stop in for a visit and tour the award-winning models built by Village Homes, from the $400s to the $700s.
Don’t wait another summer to experience Life at the Lake!
