Two popular August events are back—with appropriate social distancing, of course! The Battle of the Burger gives YOU the chance to taste the best burgers in Denver and vote on your favorite. Meanwhile, the popular 16th Street Fair is a chance for artists to take over the 16th Street Mall and fill it with their handicrafts. Don’t miss these and other events in Aurora and Denver this weekend!

Don’t miss this fascinating exhibit of a treasure of fossils found at Corral Bluffs near Colorado Springs. This amazing new discovery shows how Earth recovered after the devastating asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs. 

After the Asteroid: Earth’s Comeback has some of the best fossils from the site, along with an interactive exhibit that allows you to handle replicas of fossils important to the discovery. This exhibit is free with Museum admission, but you must purchase a timed admission ticket in advance.

Friday, August 7

Catch the premiere of this rooftop concert when Orca Welles plays their surfey-grungey-garagey set on the MCA Denver roof. You can “be there” virtually if you tune in online. It’s the next best thing to being there!

The kids will be delighted to see Frozen 2 again—this time with all the excitement of a drive-in movie! This FREE screening will be popular, so arrive early to make sure you get a place. Catch a real live concert in a real theater—with a greatly scaled-down audience. The Oriental Theater’s Safe Sound Series presents the band Sack in concert for two limited-capacity shows. The Fair is back with its wonderful display of fine art and handcrafted goods at the 16th Street Mall in Downtown Denver. Enjoy a summer weekend in the city, strolling along the Mall and marveling at all of the emerging artists and designers, who have displayed their unique handmade arts and crafts!

This fun event for kids combines two favorite activities—hand-painting and LEGOs! You’ll get to see the traveling exhibit, Nature Connects® Art with LEGO Bricks®—amazing life-size sculptures of endangered animals. 

Then your child can participate in a safe and socially-distanced painting class! Appropriate for kids ages 2-11, this instructor-led painting session will guide kids as they embellish a pair of 4×8″ building bricks with colorful creatures made from their very own handprints! The paintings are theirs to keep as special souvenirs.

It’s the heart of the summer, and August brings juicy, sweet fruits to your table!
