Easter Pics and New Theater Events to Stream This Weekend!

March 25, 2021

While we can’t wait to get back and see live theatre performances in-person, theatre companies from all around the country, as well as here in Denver, have produced some amazing streaming experiences. Aurora’s Vintage Theatre will present two this weekend: one is a brand-new Cabaret Comedy Review, and the other is the winner of the 2019 New Play Showcase!

HARRIET TUBMAN WEBINAR
To close out Women’s History month, Active Minds presents a discussion about one of the most important women in American history—Harriet Tubman.

A true patriot and promoter of human rights, Tubman was born a slave around 1820 but escaped to freedom and spent her life helping others do the same. She was the most famous “conductor” of the Underground Railroad before and during the Civil War. Later in her life, Tubman also fought for Women’s Suffrage.

IMPORTANT THEATRICAL EVENT ONLINE
Until the Flood is a timely one-person performance about the aftermath of the killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson. The event from 2013 first brought Black Lives Matters to national prominence, and so many of the issues have never been resolved. DCPA has joined with theatres all over the country to allow FREE streaming access to this important theatrical event.

Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie Award winner Dael Orlandersmith interviewed dozens of people in the Ferguson community to create the eight fictional characters in Until the Flood that represent a wide range of perspectives. She portrays all of the characters in a riveting performance that the New York Times calls “an urgent moral inquest.”
