Roy Wood, Jr. has been described by the Hollywood Reporter as “A Standout,” and Entertainment Weekly referred to his brand of thought-provoking comedy as “charismatic crankiness.” You may recognize him as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, or maybe you caught his first one-hour stand-up special, Father Figure, on Comedy Central. This is the classic Sondheim musical that pays homage to the power of believing in a dream! In typical fairytale fashion, the story opens with a childless couple yearning to start a family, who discover a host of fantastic characters seeking to fulfill their own wishes and dreams. There are princes and princesses trying to find love, a witch trying to reclaim youth and beauty, and families trying to put food on the table. As they venture deeper into the woods, they discover the realities of life, as well as unexpected consequences.

Winner of five Tony Awards including Best Original Score (1988) and Best Revival of a Musical (2002), this magical musical reminds us that life is an unpredictable journey— “to mind, to heed, to find, to think, to teach, to join”—and that no one is alone.

The straight and straight-laced moderator of the event is Robyn, who has never quite encountered any of the shenanigans about to be unleashed onstage!
