Hot Breakfast Month?! And you thought February was just about Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day! Breakfast tells your body to stop the fast and get your motor – and your brain – running. And everybody knows that people who eat breakfast are less likely to overeat at lunch time, AND they usually perform better at work and at school.

Now that we’ve levied a little motivation (guilt?) on you, get those essential nutrients with one of these ideas for breakfast. With frittatas, porridges, puddings and pancakes there’s something for everyone whether you want sweet or savory. The best part? You can make them all the night before!

Maple Pecan Cherry Bars made with sour cherries and nuts sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame, flaxseed, peanuts and/or pecans) pack a protein and cancer-fighting punch! Tart cherries, the fruit and especially the juice, help your body ward off all kinds of muscle damage, infections and diseases.

Bon Appétit’s best Quiche Lorraine is buttery, bacon-y, and custardy and while you could make your own amazing crust (who does that?), the refrigerated section of your market has pie crusts, too! The secret ingredients to the best quiche? Gruyère, thyme and a bay leaf. It can be baked one day ahead, just tightly wrap and chill, then serve warm or at room temperature.

BreakfastThe varieties of scones are endless when you make them yourself. Just look at this list: Lemon-Rosemary, Cinnamon-Chocolate, Double Ginger, Mixed Berry and Pecan-Oat. Some people (like Aussies and Brits) say there’s a right way and a wrong way to eat scones, but with these scones – you won’t care.

Company Eggs are a hearty eggy casserole loaded with greens and cheese. Flavored with sautéed onion and garlic plus sharp white cheddar, you can make this dish one day ahead, cover and chill and then pop in the oven the morning of for 15 to 18 minutes. PDG.
