Making a Comeback: Casseroles!
January 15, 2019
While Wikipedia has its own definition of what a casserole is (food cooked and served in a large pan), the word itself is sort of vintage and perhaps doesn’t immediately make you think of contemporary or tasty cuisine. In fact, it may conjure up memories of Pyrex bakeware filled with mystery concoctions your aunt or grandmother made — a version of the five-can-casserole dish, likely involving cream-of-something soup and canned tuna (not that there’s anything wrong with that!).
But today’s casseroles are more likely one-dish meals that are not only easy, but tasty and healthy in the way that maybe casseroles of the last century weren’t. So we gathered the best, easiest, most crowd-pleasing casserole recipes on the internet for you to try. Now go casserole crazy!
The Best and Tastiest Casseroles
This is the perfect dish for a crowd: blogger Catalina of Sweet and Savory Meals’ recipe for Cheesy Crack Chicken Casserole. We’re not sure if the crack stands for first-rate excellent or super-addictive. But we’re going with tasty-to-the max in part because of the crispy bacon topping and Buffalo version. Check out her Sausage Pesto Tortellini, and Hashbrown Chicken Jalapeno casseroles, too.
The 62 Most Delish Casseroles from Delish are pan-after-pan of comfort food. From Philly Cheesesteak and Cowboy Casserole (a southwestern-flavored concoction topped with tater tots and cheese) to a simple Chicken and Rice dish with fresh garlic and thyme, there are enough recipes here to get you through the winter and then some! And not just because you’ll want a few repeats in the middle of February!
Quick and Easy Casseroles
If you have an Instant Pot nothing could be quicker and easier than making the Macaroni Beef Casserole from Meatloaf and Melodrama’s recipe. Blogger Dee starts by browning the ground beef and chopped onion in her Instant Pot. She then layers macaroni, water and diced tomatoes on top and after cooking for three minutes, some shredded cheese. Just look at it and tell us you don’t want to take that bite right off Dee’s fork.
