Operation Renovation at Southshore’s Lakehouse!

We’re putting the finishing touches on The Southshore Lakehouse renovation, and if you haven’t seen the amazing facelift for yourself – what are you waiting for?!
The makeover team made major and minor structural and cosmetic changes throughout The Lakehouse and surrounding property for a top to bottom renovation, sure to please residents at Southshore!
Major Changes Everywhere
As you approach the entrance, you’ll see the front deck has been enlarged with a gently sloping ramp for those in wheelchairs, or who just need a bit of assistance. You’ll also see landscaping enhancements with new plants, flowers and trees wherever your eye happens to wander!
The renovation includes a new reception area with marble counters, and the floors throughout have been sanded and re-stained a gorgeous gray, complementing the new off-white trim and bead board.
Library and Lakeview Rooms
The library and fitness rooms both have a new look with updated paint, carpet and furniture, and the bar area in the Lakeview Room has been completely reimagined. It now has a catering kitchen with a deck-facing bar (soon to be topped with marble counters, as well!), French doors that open to the huge deck, and an enormous picture window overlooking the pool and the lake (Aurora Reservoir).
The renovation efforts turned the former café into an attractive pub space where special events will take place (with beer and wine served!). Residents can reserve the space and plan their own celebrations – from birthday and anniversary parties, to reunions and retirement tributes.
Flicks, Flex and Crafts!
The children’s activity room has more shelving and a new arts and crafts personality with an acid-stained concrete floor. The space will soon include comfy bean bag chairs arranged along the periphery for kids to sit and lounge.
The movie theater on the lower level will still serve as a gathering place for kids to watch films, and it now doubles as an exercise studio with a new floor, padded for yoga, Pilates and cardio classes.
Did We Mention the View?
Not that you’d want to, but you just can’t escape the breath-taking lake view! From the pool’s infinity edge to the back decks (enlarged hundreds of square feet), the 800 acres of the Aurora Reservoir are in every vista. The renovation included enlarged decks with beautiful new pergolas that offer shade when you need it, and a view of the sky when you don’t!
We added a walkway between the pool and the adjoining lawn area, and moved the fire pit to a separate patio area with red Adirondack chairs snugged together for cozy conversations.
More new pergolas are adjacent to the pool, and the lawn area has all-new sod and expanded space perfect for croquet, bocce ball or cornhole games! You’ll also love the new mini-stage near the back of the Lawn – a perfect wedding venue with fabulous views of…you guessed it, the lake!
