Scary-Cute Costumes and Scrummy Cocktails for Halloween!

October 26, 2021

We can’t believe Halloween is this weekend!! We’ve waited two years to celebrate this ghoulishly grand holiday – so take a look at what we’ve collected – for us and for you. From scary good and delightful costumes to delicious drinks, with and without alcohol, we’re ready for Halloween festivities at home and around our sensational Southshore neighborhoods!

Chillingly Crafted Cocktails

One Halloween tradition that seems to pop up every year thanks to its spooky-witchy theme is Hocus Pocus, and you can enjoy the film with an in-person or virtual watch party. Key up a Disney Plus group watch and send out a themed cocktail recipe for a drink so delish, we think even the Sanderson Sisters would be impressed. (More family-friendly Halloween flix here.)  We also love the idea of serving Frankenstein’s Monster-inspired mocktails so kids and teetotalers can enjoy the fun!

Whether you’re hosting an at-home cocktail hour or meeting up for drinks with your Boo Crew, there are plenty of options for the happy hour crowds. The perennial Jell-O shot with a spooky twist is making the rounds and there’s one for every Halloweenster. From neon green Jell-O shots to Black Magic Jell-o shots, which are almost too gorgeous to eat, you’ll find a compatible witching hour jiggle drink! Of course, making Jell-O shots kid-friendly is a cinch — just leave out the alcohol!

Instagrammable cocktails will offer entertainment to far-away friends and family with cocktails that you won’t be able to stop taking pictures of — think dry ice, shimmery liquids, and colorful hues. Brew up a batch of a terrific potions like The Witch’s Heart which uses yummy seasonal liqueurs like blackberry and apple brandy. Lean into a more Halloween-y mix with a Dracula’s Blood cocktail — one adult beverage that begs for the addition of plastic fangs for full effect.

Creepy and Cutesy Costumes

Time for costumes! Whether you’re staging an outdoor costume parade or a costume contest, or simply taking pictures for the memories, social posts or to send to loved ones, we’ve got you covered.

Of course, you’ll find plenty of Halloween-themed masks for easy, last-minute costumes. We’re so used to covering our faces these days, it’s easy to switch out a scary or themed mask and just go about your day! Or, for $5 to $8, you can snag a paper-craft mask template from Etsy, designed to slip over the head and there are child-to-adult sizes. These are fun to make and fun to wear, and you can instantly transform yourselves into dinosaurs, wolves, rabbits, even unicorns. For 26 more DIY costumes including a few masks, check out Country Living lots of free printables and tutorials.

Although Halloween is aimed more at children, we’re firm believers in parents getting in on the act. From sexy and silly, to candy-corny and punny you’ll find 28 last-minute costumes in this YouTube collection from Brooklyn & Bailey.

Group, Baby-Bump and Pet Costumes
