Special Valentine’s Day Dates!
February 7, 2017
With Valentine’s Day just a week away, it’s not too soon to make romantic plans for a memory-making winter date. Here are a few suggestions to arrange an exceptional get-together with your valentine on or around that special day.
SPA OUTING
Schedule a couple’s spa outing, and spend some quality time on Valentine’s Day together on matching massage tables! Noodle out with a relaxing Swedish, hot stone or aromatherapy massage, followed by a steam or sauna. Check out the locations and ratings of these spas near the lakeside community of Southshore on Yelp.com.
SLEIGH RIDE
You might have to drive a bit to find enough snow to dash through, but for a fabulous dinner sleigh ride, take your partner up to Snow Mountain Ranch for roasted chicken, steak or poached trout dinner, complete with cowboy beans, garlic bread and fruit cobbler! The folks at Sombrero don’t serve alcohol but you’re welcome to bring your own wine to toast your valentine.
ANTIQUING DATE
Make a Valentine’s date to go antiquing, where the two of you can get lost for an hour or two hunting for vintage treasures, retro riches, and classic collectibles. Nearby are Heirlooms Antique Mall or the Hampden Street Antique Market, or to make a day of it, shop the endless inventories of Antiques, Etc. in Park Hill, Garage Vintage in Lincoln Park and/or Great Finds in Parker.
BALLET DATE
If you can wait two days to celebrate, winter is the season for beautiful ballet performances. The production of three masterworks by the Colorado Ballet includes Petite Mort, Serenade and Firebird, an exciting choreographed production set to live music. Based on a Russian folklore tale, a magical bird with glowing feathers helps a prince rescue a beautiful maiden from an evil sorcerer.
S’MORES INDOORS
Let’s move the throwback to Tuesday for this Valentine’s Day with some indoor s’mores! Who can resist the temptation of half-scorched marshmallows and melted chocolate between graham crackers? Take advantage of the cooler weather and get the fireplace (or outdoor grill) going, rip open a bag of the squishy ‘mallows, and pair with a Spiked Coconut Vanilla Steamer.
HOCKEY HEAVEN
Support your local Colorado Avalanche players rink-side for a frenzied hockey game! With match-ups on Valentine’s Day and throughout the week, you can cheer on your favorite Av, and watch passionate players duke it out over a puck, on skates. Memorialize your evening with assorted commemorative (purchased) swag.
SKATE DATE
Inspired to do a little skating of your own, now? The Pond at Southlands Mall, sponsored by Southshore in Aurora, invites you to bring your sweetheart for an arm-in-arm glide around the rink. Wednesdays are two-for-one days, and on Valentine’s Day, if you post a picture of yourselves on The Pond’s Facebook page, you could receive an overnight hotel stay and a $50 gift card for dinner at one of Southlands restaurants!
ARTHOUSE FLICKS
For a different kind of movie adventure, make a point to avoid the mega-plexes on Valentine’s Day and take in an arthouse flick at an independent theater. Landmark Theatres have a few of the Academy Award nominees that others don’t, including a couple that are up for Best Picture.
